Good Tool

Wasnt quite sure what expect, but was pleasantly surprised. Im an Avid photographer shooting a lot of studio shots. This app provides a nice way to review lighting and setup, and develop lighting setups prior to entering the studio. The interface is nice but you must spend time to learn its inner workings. I love the 3D view and ability to rotate almost everything, can be a little over whelming at first. Once I learned how to control the interface it was great. Love the ability to change lighting color, not only for effects, but to better see how each light in the setting will affect your subject. Shadows are fantastic; the ability to control shadow affects for your display is excellent. Best to view the tutorial on line, saves a lot of guess work. Great app, nicely done. If you work in the studio, youll find this a useful addition to you studio. Trying think of any improvements; only thing I can think of is continue to improve the smoothness of graphic movements and definitely work compatibility with new IPAD retina screen...looking forward to any updates and improvements.

Cool App

I really like this app, is very useful for planning shots before executing them. I do wish that the maker keeps adding more helpful features in future updates. Good work :)

Useful results, very poor project saving

This application is great for designing lighting rigs for a studio photographer or for one learning about lighting. I have learned a great deal, certainly much easier than messing around with equipment, especially if you dont have access to much equipment. The interface, once you get the hang of it, is fairly easy. It would be nice if you could get it to both display and set coordinates numerically, I.e say a prime light is 1.5 meters or feet from model, 6 feet or meters off the ground. And conversely, have it spit out the distances and heights so you could build the rig in real life. And maybe produce an inventory or shopping list for needed components ( one barn door on 7 foot stand, one hair light on a 4 foot stand. Even better with measurements!) I would give it five stars if the following is addressed: this app is not good if you want to save a work in progress and edit it later. It took me a while to figure out that every save was creating a new "rig" (with duplicate name). This results in a long list of identically named "rigs," and no was way to easily delete old versions. I became rapidly confused. And remain so. In addition, the display of the library of rigs is inexplicably slow, even with the one or two rigs I was working on.

Review

This app has a lot of potential ,but still needs a lot of work. All the reviews say so, but still bought it to support the developers. I gave it 4 stars for their great idea. Hope to see some good updates in the future

Missing to many features o get useful

Besides the missing features (as mention in other reviews), according to developer website it has light intensity control. It is not working on the iPad 3. Will delete program and try again it 6 months.

good concept

Its a good concept but not well executed. Pretty clunky interface. Movement controls are difficult to navigate with precision. I think a two plane system would be much easier to navigate (ex...overhead view and horizontal perspective with height slider and zoom). Some control over light intensity sure would be nice too. Classic lighting set ups like clam shell give you a blown out camera view. Lots of features could make this more useful like; focal length, aperture, lSO, f-stop scale for light rigs. Rendering is pretty poor too even with detail turned up on Ipad4. There are pc and mac programs that do what this app tries to do much better, for very reasonable prices, I think Ill be investing in one of those.

Nice app

Definitely needs work. But pretty good for what it does do. Would like for it to feature more of things in recent reviews.
